Care Connection Notice
Read this before requesting a connection. Urgent Care Online connects patients in need with independently licensed doctors and other healthcare providers. This notice explains what we do, what we don't do, and what to expect. Your provider is responsible for obtaining any informed consent required by your state before treating you.
1. What We Do
You tell us a little about yourself and your non-emergency concern. A care coordinator reviews your request and connects you with a provider in our network who is licensed in your state and able to help. The provider then contacts you directly to schedule and conduct your visit. Depending on the provider, your state, and your concern, the visit may take place by phone, by video, or in person.
2. Our Role and Its Limits
Urgent Care Online is a referral service. We do not participate in your visit, do not have access to your medical record with the provider, and do not direct or supervise the provider's care. The provider you are connected with is solely responsible for your evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, follow-up, documentation, and compliance with the laws that govern their practice. We do not employ providers, and no provider-patient relationship is created between you and Urgent Care Online.
3. What You Can Expect
- A connection to a licensed, independent provider, often faster than finding one on your own.
- Coordination outside regular office hours when providers in your state offer it.
- No cost to be connected. Any fees for the visit itself are set and billed by the provider.
4. Limitations and Risks
- Not suitable for every condition. Your provider may determine that your concern requires a different setting, specialist, or emergency care, and may decline to treat you.
- Remote visits have limits. If your provider sees you by phone or video, there is no physical examination, and connectivity or equipment problems may delay or interrupt the visit.
- Prescriptions. Whether to prescribe is solely the provider's decision. Controlled substances are not prescribed remotely except where federal and state law allow.
- Availability. Provider availability, response time, and appointment timing vary by state and are not guaranteed.
- Information you provide. Your request is shared with the provider we connect you with and handled as described in our Privacy Policy. The provider's own privacy practices govern information you give them directly.
- State law. Providers must be licensed in the state where you are located, which is why we ask for your state.
5. Emergencies
This service is not for emergencies. If you are experiencing chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, signs of stroke, a severe allergic reaction, thoughts of harming yourself or others, or any other emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988.
6. Costs and Insurance
Requesting a connection through Urgent Care Online is free. Visit fees are set and billed by the provider. Insurance acceptance varies by provider and plan; confirm coverage with your provider and insurer before the visit. Urgent Care Online is not an insurer and does not guarantee coverage or cost. We may receive compensation from providers and partners in our network.
7. Your Rights
- You may decline a connection or stop a visit at any time and seek care elsewhere.
- You may ask the provider about their licensure, credentials, and whether your concern is appropriate for the type of visit offered.
- You may request your medical records from the provider, who maintains them under their own privacy practices.
- You may opt out of calls and texts at any time; see our Do Not Call / Do Not Text page.
8. Acknowledgment
By requesting a connection through Urgent Care Online, you acknowledge that you have read this notice, that you understand Urgent Care Online is a referral service and not your healthcare provider, and that all decisions about your care are made between you and the provider you are connected with.
